What is a VC associate?

The venture capital (VC) associate is responsible for supporting the venture capitalists in their work. This includes conducting due diligence on potential investments, working with portfolio companies, and helping to source new investment opportunities. The venture capital associate is also responsible for maintaining relationships with entrepreneurs, other venture capitalists and other members of the investment community.

A venture capital associate generally starts their career path by working in investment banking or consulting. This gives them the skills and experience necessary to work in venture capital. They then move on to a venture capital firm, where they will typically spend two to three years before becoming a venture capitalist.
