VC Analyst @ Revolution Growth in Washington DC

Analyst will work on a variety of firm matters, including sourcing and evaluation of new investment opportunities, research into sectors of interest, support of existing portfolio companies, and development of internal reporting/processes. The ideal candidate is mature, energetic, and has strong quantitative and analytical abilities. The primary focus of the Analyst will be supporting live deals and high priority portfolio matters as opportunities arise. This role offers the candidate the opportunity to bolster his or her buy side investing experience and provides direct exposure to fund Founders and Partners as well as C‐level leaders of the fund’s portfolio companies. Analyst requirements: The position requires independent thinking, internal drive, analytical horsepower, and excellent communication & time management skills. An understanding of VC / Private Equity corporate valuation and financial modeling is critical for success in the role.

The general responsibilities of the position are as follows:

  • Help develop perspective on key sectors of interest and drive related sourcing efforts (e.g. key sector trends, companies to watch, outreach to potential companies of interest, conduct intro calls) (20% of time)
  • Drive discrete pieces of diligence process related to potential new investment opportunities (e.g. comparable companies, competitor research, valuation modeling, customer calls) (50% of time)
  • Support portfolio companies on key projects such as strategic planning, business development, strategic partnerships, capitalization and financial analyses (10% of time)
  • Work on internal firm matters which could include portfolio company reporting & analysis, investor relations, and firm marketing (20% of time)

The ideal candidate has experience from in investment banking or management consulting where he/she has been ranked among the top in their class, or has been in a business development or strategy role with a relevant technology startup. Not essential, but helpful experiences include: time spent within the technology sector, involvement with emerging growth companies, and an understanding of the consumer and/or technology sector. This is a two-year pre-MBA position
