We’re seeking a Principal or Partner to source, diligence, invest and assist the next cohort of market-leading startups as a key member of the investment team in San Francisco. Key Responsibilities
- Take a leading role in new investment activities, from deal sourcing to execution
- Help to manage and add value to our existing portfolio and take board seats on new investments
- Hire, manage and grow junior investment team members
- Network and build the M12 brand
Qualifications for Principal
- At least 6 years of work experience across the startup/tech ecosystem including 2+ years required, 4+ years preferred of venture investing with a track record of deal execution
- Experience with a start‐up that reached a highly successful outcome; or operating experience with an established leading company in the B2B space is preferred
- Deep understanding of the start‐up ecosystem
- Successful candidates will understand market dynamics, competitive strategies, and business operations, with the ability to formulate a comprehensive investment thesis, and also proactively build a deal pipeline around that thesis
- Must understand industry and business models and dynamics of where value is created in an industry
- Regardless of functional expertise, must have exceptional presentation and communication skills
- Ideal candidates will be able to “hit the ground running” through their deep domain expertise and a related network of extensive industry contacts and peers, and the desire to learn the venture capital business
- MBA preferred but not required

- At least 8 years of work experience across the startup/tech ecosystem including 4+ years required, 6+ years preferred of venture investing with a proven track record

- Experience managing multiple projects under compressed timeframes
