In this newly created role, the successful candidate will report to the newly appointed PMT Vice President and General Manager of Corporate Development, M&A and Ventures, with a matrix reporting line to the Managing Director of Honeywell Corporate Ventures. The primary purpose of this role is to drive awareness, collaboration and partnership between synergistic startup companies and the SPS business. This position will play a critical role in building Honeywell’s capabilities and reputation as a preferred strategic partner and to ensure that we have the right processes, resources, stakeholder visibility, and support in place to drive successful outcomes. This position is more focused on identifying, negotiating and nurturing external venture partnerships rather than closing investment deals.
Launched in 2017, Honeywell Venture Capital has invested in early-stage, high-growth technology companies that are strategically aligned to the Company’s portfolio and software capabilities. The initial fund size is expected to be approximately $100 million and investments will be made through Honeywell Venture Capital LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Honeywell. According to Honeywell President and CEO Darius Adamczyk: “Investments in early-stage high-growth companies are a great way to supplement Honeywell’s track record as an innovation leader, leverage our research and development capabilities, and provide access to new solutions for our customers. We will invest in companies from around the world with emerging or disruptive technologies that either complement our technologies or can help us serve our customers more effectively. The fund will concentrate on companies that could scale faster through access to Honeywell’s customers, channels, intellectual property, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and global presence. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Startup deal sourcing, from seed through early (Series A/B) stage. Identification and prioritization of highly disruptive, innovative tech startups with strong relevance to PMT sectors of interest. Focus on core and enabling technologies in areas such as computer vision, machine learning, sensors, enterprise/industrial software, and advanced materials.
Strategic partnerships with leading VCs, universities, and incubators that align to PMT industry focus areas to drive awareness and exposure across the business
Due diligence and negotiation of both technical and commercial engagements including proof of concepts/pilots, IP licensing, collaborative R&D, co-marketing and joint go-to-market
Work in close partnership with PMT Strategy and Innovation leaders to ensure external ecosystem engagements enhance and/or accelerate internal initiatives
YOU MUST HAVE
10 years of combined post-undergraduate experience, ideally a combination of Corporate MNC experience (e.g. in Strategy, M&A, or Business Development roles) and Management Consulting
Experience working in or with the startup/Venture Capital ecosystem
Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or engineering
WE VALUE
Significant exposure to equity investing e.g. within a Corporate VC or at an institutional VC; and/or leadership role at a high-growth startup company that successfully raised a post-seed equity round
Advanced degree, ideally MBA from top-tier business school
Global work experience (e.g. outside of U.S., ideally in China, India, or Israel)
