About SAP.iO Venture Studio
At SAP.iO Venture Studio, we’re transforming the way that SAP builds new businesses. We are tasked to create those businesses, using SAP’s unique position and differentiated data sources to transform industries ranging from talent management to security. Our incubations must be big enough to move the needle at SAP, attack new market opportunities for the company, and be able to be tested through rapid iteration and constant customer feedback.
We identify promising talent and ideas, invest between $750K and $2.5M in seed-stage capital, and scale the ventures over time. The startups built within the Venture Studio operate differently to traditional corporate business units: General Managers are entrusted with end-to-end responsibilities, teams manage to cash, and Boards provide oversight and regular guidance.
About NVT Intrapreneurship
The NVT Intrapreneurship team is a strategic pillar of the New Ventures and Technologies group, which is in charge of future-proofing SAP. The NVT Intrapreneurship team has an end-to-end responsibility of all pre- investment activities into the SAP.iO Venture Studio. This includes the identification of interesting opportunity areas for investment; the sourcing and screening of hundreds of early stage teams applying for investment yearly; the creation of startup curricula to educate innovators on agile methodologies; and preparing phenomenally talented teams to get investment-ready through our yearly flagship accelerator program. Yearly, our small team’s work impacts 25,000 employees at SAP and sources in 3-4 new investments into the SAP.iO Venture Studio.
We’re looking for an Investment Analyst Intern to join our NVT Intrapreneurship team and play an enormous role in the team’s overall success.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
As an Investment Analyst Intern (f/m/d) for the NVT Intrapreneurship team, your main responsibilities will be to:
- Research business and technology trends and make critical recommendations on new opportunity areas for potential investments
- Screen and evaluate opportunities along all stages until investment into the Venture Studio is made. Regularly perform due diligence and engage with intrapreneurs to strengthen your analysis
- Prepare and run Investment Committee Meetings (ICMs) in which investment decisions are made together with senior SAP executives and Venture Studio leaders
- Cultivate a network of subject matter experts who can meaningfully contribute to screening and evaluating deals
- Educate SAP colleagues on market trends, financial models, and investment methods and mentor teams on startup methods and mindset
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Required skills
- Strong academic record in Finance or a related field from a leading university
- Clear understanding of startup finance focus on early stage, and governance
- Strong analytic skills to put large amounts of information into context
- Ability to manage and prioritize large amounts of tasks
- Ability to source information easily to help build a thesis around companies / industries / competition
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills
- Exceptional communicator and ability to inspire others to get things done
- Self-driven, reliable, open-minded, well-organized
Preferred skills
- Master’s degree in Finance or a related field
- Knowledge of project finance
- Prior investment analysis experience from an investment fund, investment banking or similar
- Experience at a high-growth technology company or start-up is a plus.
