Associate Role
Within the first three months, you will understand and contribute to the firm’s values, investment mandate and overall processes. You will engage with the Valo team members and startup management teams as we diligence companies. You will support analyzing industry trends, estimating potential market size, developing competitive landscapes, benchmarking company metrics, evaluating company financial and operating plans, and valuing investments . As companies successfully move through our due diligence process, you will support the authorship of investment memos. As we report to our LPs, you will develop presentations that share our performance and insights with investors.
Within the first six months, you will conduct preliminary screening of companies in our deal flow (with the support of existing team members as needed). You will begin to own and manage our deal flow pipeline software. You will assist in maintaining portfolio performance and analytics reporting. You will attend industry events and trade shows on behalf of Valo to gather insights and source new opportunities.
Within the first nine months you will support the investment execution process including coordination across legal, finance, operations and other parties (including other investors, legal and other advisors, and the portfolio company). You will ensure pipeline management and efficiency across the team. You will begin to develop a degree of autonomy early in an investment process.
Within the first twelve months, you will have supported multiple investments. You will begin to formulate your own theses and identify promising startups that demonstrate high revenue growth, coupled with long-term sustainable competitive advantages. You will be able to discern strong business models demonstrating compelling unit economics which can lead to significant operating leverage. You will have contributed to optimizing Valo’s processes and further building on Valo’s culture, brand and values. You will begin to form your professional network of peers.
