VC Associate @ Salt Creek Capital in San Francisco, CA

Salt Creek Capital is seeking a new Associate to join the firm’s professional team. The successful candidate will be involved in all facets of the investment process, including sourcing & evaluating new investment opportunities, preparing financial models, performing industry & market research, supporting acquisition due diligence, and drafting investment presentations. The Associate will also support numerous aspects of internal firm operations.

Key Responsibilities

Deal origination:

  • Initiate and manage various deal sourcing campaigns
  • Organize and maintain a robust pipeline of investment opportunities
  • Screen and analyze new acquisition opportunities

Transaction Execution:

  • Provide support to senior investment professionals for all steps in the investment process
  • Responsible for assisting the team with the creation of investment memorandums, conducting due diligence, and coordinating with third-party consultants and vendors
  • Manage multiple investment-related projects in a time critical, transaction-oriented environment
  • Build financial models and perform valuation analyses

Firm Operations:

  • Monitoring key partner communication
  • Creating marketing materials and investor presentations
  • Tracking and reporting on weekly key performance indicators (KPI’s)
  • Supporting portfolio companies in various aspects and with special projects

Career Track

The Associate will have opportunity to either progress as an Investment Professional at the firm over the long-term, or eventually join the leadership team of an SCC portfolio company in an operationally focused role.

Desired Skills and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a top university
  • Minimum of two years of experience in investment banking, search fund, corporate finance or management consulting
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills to assess financial statements, develop forecasts and create financial models
  • Outstanding business writing and communication skills – e.g. ability and experience authoring complete investment memorandums and/or business plans
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage several parallel projects
  • Ability to interact with and present to senior level executives with confidence and poise
  • Excellent references

Preferred:

  • Transactional experience with an interest in taking on an expanding role in transaction execution
  • An understanding and appreciation of business operations – we are an operationally focused investment firm
  • Master’s degree in Finance or Accountancy
