Job Description:
This role is for the firm’s consumer venture team for a summer 2019 start. The associate will be responsible for providing support to senior team members, including partners, in all aspects of potential and active investments.  Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop investment themes, gather and synthesize data, and construct related presentations
  • Develop industry knowledge and contacts to help drive investment strategy
  • Source new early stage investments, including networking, calling potential prospects, meeting with entrepreneurs and attending trade shows
  • Assist Partners in due diligence for potential new investments, including market research and analysis, review of technology, industry trends, financial modeling and valuation, reference calls to customers and business partners
  • Development of financial models relating to financings, restructurings, and liquidity events
  • Analysis of operational forecasts and budgets for active or potential investments
  • Development of presentation materials for partnership
  • Tracking industry statistics and maintaining internal databases, including: Salesforce contact tracking, venture capital financings and trends, deal flow statistics, compensation statistics, and various portfolio company metrics.
  • Writing up deal summaries and deal memos
  • Support existing portfolio companies

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of total work experience, including at least two years of work experience in investment banking or strategy consulting with heavy valuation work OR work experience with a hedge fund, private equity fund, or lateral venture or growth equity fund
  • Undergrad degree from a top-tier institution. Demonstration of superior intellectual horsepower through high test scores and GPA
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with proven ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships
  • Ability to interpret data and provide relevant conclusions/recommendations
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to articulate ideas in a group setting
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic
