NEXT VENTŪRES is a venture capital fund investing in innovative fitness, nutrition, health and wellness companies. We leverage our collective expertise in this space to find products, technologies and services that help both elite and every day athletes perform better and lead healthier lives. We’re seeking an Associate who is passionate about sports and wellness, and has experience working in the dynamic environment of the VC and start-up space.
Responsibilities Include:
Sourcing and Origination
– Maintain a data-driven process for managing our deal pipeline
– Assist with initial outreach, data gathering and assessment, and establishing relationships with founders
– Monitor and track development of previously screened companies
– Represent NEXT VENTŪRES at relevant industry events and conferences
Due Diligence
– Conduct initial screening and meetings with potential investee companies
– Create robust financial models for potential investee companies
– Create deal memos for potential investments
– Analyze competitive landscape
– Develop investment insights and hypotheses by conducting market, product, customer, and financial due diligence
Portfolio Management
– Provide operational support to Partners and portfolio companies when needed
– Assist in tracking portfolio company KPIs
– Support the assessment of follow-on investments
Current and Prospective Investor List Management
– Manage and update Affinity database of existing and potential LPs
– Ensure contacts are up-to-date and Partners are in regular contact with current and future LPs
Marketing and Communications
– Oversee the fund’s LinkedIn and social media channels
– Assist Partners in regular communications to Advisors and LPs
– Assist in press releases and other PR and marketing efforts as needed
This Associate will play a critical role on our four-person team, working closely with the Partners and Assistant. Strong technical, financial and communication skills are key, along with a solid sense of humor and adaptability to change. We will invest in this role as a long-term hire, in the hopes of growing her/him to become a principal or partner with us.
Expectations
– Strong business acumen is required. Strong academic background is preferred
– 2-3 years professional experience at a leading VC or PE firm
– Entrepreneurial, able to work on a small team
– Proactive, self-directed leader
– Collaboration and communication are required on our virtual team
– Passionate about the sports and wellness space
– Technical, analytical and financial modelling skills (Excel, SQL, etc)
