VC Associate @ BridgeBio in San Francisco, CA

This position will help set the culture and business development for BridgeBio, will be the face of the organization, and will be a critically important player in building and maintaining BridgeBio’s pipeline in oncology and genetic disease. The Associate will seek out and research therapeutic approaches for licensing and/or investment that fall within the interests of the company, and assist with new company creation for incoming assets.

Essential Skills & Functions

  • Dig deep into a biological problem and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the underlying biology, therapeutic approach, and business case for investing
  • Assess pre-clinical and clinical data packages and associated business plans in the oncology and genetic disease space for fit with the BridgeBio thesis
  • Interface with leading academics, patient advocacy groups, biotechs, and entrepreneurs in the oncology and genetic disease space
  • Build focused presentations and lead internal meetings around potential pipeline assets
  • Establish a focused investment strategy and follow through to identify new investment opportunities
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage in constructive and thoughtful dialogue with key opinion leaders and BridgeBio stakeholders, and the ability to express ideas cogently in writing

Requirements

  • PhD preferred, will consider Masters/Bachelors degree with enough relevant work experience in life sciences
  • Previous experience working with/analyzing/or vetting therapeutics (not medical devices or digital health) in biotech business development, venture capital, or consulting
  • Familiarity and confidence working across a wide breadth of life science concepts (molecular biology, genetics, etc)
  • Broad knowledge of biotech and pharmaceutical companies in the precision medicine area
  • Curiosity, strong work ethic, and a sense of humor
  • A strong aptitude for and interest in science and translational medicine
  • A self-starter who loves to learn and will bring great energy to work each day
  • A passion for helping patients
