We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our Enterprise Investment Team as an Analyst. This is a unique opportunity to start a career in venture capital with a top early-stage venture firm, and gain exposure to every step of the deal journey, from research, to sourcing, to closing.
This is NOT a remote role. The person will need to be based in the SF/Bay Area.

Role & Purpose:
As an Analyst, you will be part of Mayfield’s Enterprise investment team, and work closely with the partnership. You can expect your core responsibilities to be:
70% – Sourcing & Diligence
- Identify and engage new potential startups for the partnership to meet
- Diligence – synthesize founder profiles, funding history, news / press releases, sector/market research, and other useful information to help evaluate potential investments
- Help with customer diligence and management references
- Join pitch meetings for learning
20% – Research & Market Mapping
- Analyze and track companies and sectors relevant to our investment thesis
- Develop and track key metrics in the space
- Deep dive into selected industry sectors
- Keep up to speed with the latest developments in emerging sectors
10% – Contribute to Portfolio Companies and Firmwide Projects
- Prepare presentations
- LP related work
- Support Partners on major events
- Contribute to analyses of the venture industry, and firm strategy
- Support portfolio companies on value-add work
Background:
- Strong academic track-record from a top tier university; an engineering (CS/EE) background is preferred, but not required
- Prior internship experience in venture capital is a plus
- 1-2 years of work experience, or relevant internship experience, in a B2B technology startup, strategy consulting, or banking, is preferred
- Demonstrated startup affinity through personal entrepreneurial endeavors, investing, advising, etc.
- Strong analytical skills – innately data-driven
