Company Description
LearnLaunch Fund + Accelerator is an impact-driven VC fund and accelerator that invests in and supports entrepreneurs on the mission to transform education positively. To date we invested in 71 companies driving access, equity, and outcomes in K12, higher education, workforce development, and life-long upskilling. We believe that change in the education system should be driven by innovators emerging from and representing the populations, which have been so poorly served by the education system today. 66% of companies we invested in are founded/managed by entrepreneurs who identify as female and/or BIPOC. Our portfolio companies have impacted 20+ million learners globally.
Position Summary
The associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks including accelerator process management, portfolio support and reporting, and support of a 3-person investment team. Candidates must exhibit passion for entrepreneurship and have interest in exploring different segments of the education market. We are especially interested in candidates from diverse backgrounds. Candidates must be based or willing to relocate to the Greater Boston Area.
Essential Job Functions
Accelerator Program & Investing 50%
- Manage accelerator selection process involving multiple stakeholders
- Coordinate Due Diligence process and assist in creation of investment memos
- Manage the cohort participation during the 10-week accelerator session
- Support communication and engagement with Venture Partners
- Carry out various projects for selected accelerator companies such as market research, analysis of competitive landscape, financial modeling, cap table modeling
- Coordinate and assist in evaluation process to select companies eligible for follow-on funding
- Milestones review process to determine eligibility for follow-on funding
Deal Flow Management & Investment Process Support 20%
- Communicate and engage with companies inquiring for funding
- Evaluate potential investment opportunities and assist in creation of investment memos
- Conduct market research on industry trends emerging technologies and individual startups
- Maintain internal deal database and, from time to time, perform deal flow-related data analysis
- Maintain internal co-investor database and support the team in engaging with co-investors
Reporting & Portfolio Management 20%
- Gather semi-annual business and financial updates from portfolio companies and assist in preparation of required semi-annual reports for the limited partners
- Gather impact metrics information from the portfolio companies and prepare annual Impact Report
- Prepare other required material about select portfolio companies, e.g. to be used in communication with potential co-investors
Other 10%
- Respond to request of existing portfolio companies
- Supporting the team in the fundraising process as needed
- Draft a press release or a blog post from time to time
Essential Skills and Experience
- 1-2 years of experience working in an adjacent area (e.g. banking, investment banking, corporate development, business planning, management consulting, market research etc.)
- Proven project management skills
- Engagement with entrepreneurial ecosystem building is a big plus

- Excellent communicator, able to comfortably communicate with entrepreneur and investors
- Able to compose comprehensive business summaries / investment materials
- Self-starter, able to prioritize and work independently
- Ability to manage complex project with multiple stakeholders involved
- Comfortable with understanding and applying financial modeling
