In this role, the Director works directly with senior Life Sciences investment professionals to support the generation of new investment ideas, conduct due diligence, and to help support existing investments. As the Director grows, we expect they will have the opportunity to lead deals and/or take board seats. A successful candidate will be able to understand, interpret, and integrate information from diverse therapeutic areas in order to reach investment conclusions. It will also be important for candidates to understand business principles, financial analysis, and market dynamics in the drug and medical device sectors. Directors will have broad exposure to company management teams, Sanofi R&D colleagues, investor conferences, and other resources that Sanofi Ventures utilizes to make investments.
Position Overview/Key Responsibilities:
Key accountabilities (all under the management of SV’s US Head of Investments) include: Investment Analysis: Provide detailed analytical and due diligence support as required. Work with technical and business teams; solicit input and advice from senior investment professionals, R&D, advisors, and others as appropriate regarding prioritization and selection of investment candidates. Conduct due diligence calls with physicians, scientists, and other consultants; perform market analysis and build therapeutic market and financial models. Portfolio Management and deal tracking: Maintain oversight and support management of existing portfolio companies [and deal database]. Active Team Member: actively participate in SV activities and represent well in both internal and external settings. Prepare presentations and reports and is principally responsible for content, style and analytics associated with the quarterly investment meetings. Contribute to the preparation of Investment Committee materials.

Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelors degree with advanced scientific training is required. MD/PhD is preferred. A minimum of 2 years of relevant business experience in the Life Sciences industry is required, including at a top-tier investment bank, venture capital or consulting firm with a healthcare focus, or a biopharma company in R&D or Business Development functions. For candidates without industry experience, an MBA may be considered. Selected candidate will possess excellent communication skills (verbal and written); a team player; hands-on attitude and a willingness to be actively involved in operations. This position is scheduled to be based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and may require up to 20% overall business travel.
