Role Summary:
As an integral member of the deal team within GE Ventures, Advanced Manufacturing, the Sr. Associate will assist the team leaders on industry research, sourcing, diligence, modeling, structuring, and portfolio management in assigned sectors. This position will play a key role in screening, evaluating and conducting diligence on investment opportunities, and will support the advanced manufacturing investment activities.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all aspects of an equity investment transaction including: analysis, modeling, due diligence, structuring, documentation, negotiation and legal consideration.
  • Screen opportunities and report to senior fund staff on recommendations to pursue specific investments.
  • Attend industry trade shows and assist in sourcing new opportunities.
  • Work with external and internal resources to determine new areas in manufacturing and field services to develop business opportunities.
  • Prepare presentations for investment committee and participate in presentation of content with senior GE executives as needed.
  • Monitor financial and operational conditions and industry dynamics of assigned portfolio companies and understand investment capital structure and shareholder rights to analyze portfolio and assist with quarterly reviews with senior management.
  • Proactively work with the management and board of portfolio companies to execute growth and operational improvement strategies in order to maximize value of investments
  • Perform financial analyses and modeling as needed and assist investment team in interactions with top company executives and senior management as needed.
  • Over time, the person in this role will take a leadership role in analysis of specific investment opportunities and sectors, and building direct relationships with the venture community.
  • This team member will also play a role in developing material for internal projects and presentations.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Degree concentration in computer science, engineering, or physical sciences (either undergraduate or graduate)
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in venture investing, strategy consulting, investment banking, or a technology startup
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct market and business analysis and competitive landscaping with the ability to translate the results into effective communication tools (presentations, pitches)
  • Financial Modeling experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in the manufacturing, semiconductor, or enterprise software is strongly desired
  • Five years work experience in venture or private equity investing, or in a technology startup is preferred
  • MBA or other graduate degree, specifically in computer science, engineering or physical science, is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct market analysis and competitive landscaping with the ability to translate the results into effective communication tools (presentations, pitches)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
