Sofinnova, (LinkedIn, Crunchbase) a leading biotechnology investment firm with an established twenty-year track record, is seeking an individual with an M.D. or Ph.D. to join our venture team as a Principal. The Firm manages distinct venture and public equity funds with an approximate combined AUM of $2B. The funds invest in both private and public equities in the life sciences industries, with a particular focus on biotechnology and therapeutics. This senior position will track and monitor our venture portfolio, source transactions, perform investment diligence and negotiate deals in support of the senior investment personnel, and represent the firm on the boards of select investments.
The responsibilities include: scientific preclinical and clinical data analysis, regulatory
correspondence with FDA/EMA, financial analysis of companies and industries, market research, industry conference attendance, meeting with company management, and other research activities. We are expanding our team of thoughtful, talented investors with technically competent individuals with high integrity and ownership of their work.

Qualifications:
MUST be a graduate (BA/BS and/or Graduate degree) of a top university with a strong academic record;
MUST have an advanced scientific degree (MD / PhD in the biological or chemical sciences) from a
top university;
MUST have related work experience beyond academic training;
MUST have a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial modeling skills in Excel
(e.g., company-specific valuation, market models, etc.);
MUST be organized, have strong communications skills, and be a self starter and able to work in a collaborative team environment;
MUST have strong scientific and or clinical acumen;
MUST have passion, integrity and work ethic and the ability to develop and grow with the firm; and
Prior non-academic work experience – 5+ years in sell-side equity research, consulting, venture capital, investment banking, or at a biotech / pharma company, with substantial exposure to therapeutics companies is preferred.
Specific Job Functions:
Track, monitor, and model venture portfolio. Update senior investment personnel on development
and trends that may require action;
Source transactions and complete initial deal screening and due diligence. Bring forward viable
recommendations to Investment Committee to move into full diligence;
Meet with company management, key opinion leader consultants, and our investment counterparties
(e.g., investment bankers, analysts, vendors, etc.);
Perform due diligence on a therapeutic program using various sources including scientific and
medical literature, company or industry analyst reports, consultants, etc.;
Participate in company due diligence and Investment Committee meetings;
Analyze and interpret scientific, clinical, and financial data;
Build and maintain market databases (prescriptions, financial estimates) for diseases/therapies;
(Analyst) Build company specific valuation models (e.g., DCF-NPV);
Aggregate and analyze relevant industry news flow;
Cover and report on industry conferences; and
May over time represent the Firm on the boards of portfolio companies.
