Boeing HorizonX is the disruptive innovation cell at Boeing. Our Ventures team leverages corporate venture capital to accelerate innovation into our core businesses and beyond, and as part of that leads startup accelerators in targeted global ecosystems.

 

Boeing HorizonX Ventures has an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader of startup acceleration activities to run operations across global startup accelerators. This unique position will help execute Boeing’s global strategies to leverage startups, improve targeted startup ecosystems, and further develop Boeing & HorizonX as recognized innovators and investors. This individual will be expected to collaborate in and outside the US across Boeing businesses and functions, and with our vendors and external partners.

 

A successful candidate will have a mix of technical, analytical, strategic, and project management for execution capabilities; this is a doing role. The selected candidate will be the deputy to HorizonX Ventures’ Global Acceleration Director in the development and day-to-day management of several startup accelerators in different global locations. The individual should have specific experience in a program management or similar role at a “brand-name” startup accelerator, and want to “go corporate” for all the right reasons. The individual will be responsible for ensuring that we attract the most promising startups to our accelerators and the startups’ leaders have a world-class accelerator experience leading to commercial and equity outcomes. The role will focus on leading a set of global locations on three continents, and the individual must have a willingness to both manage & collaborate virtually while traveling to help in-country during key events & activities.

 

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
§Cultivating relationships with world-class accelerator partners, negotiating agreements, and ensuring each program reflects Boeing HorizonX Ventures’ strategies and in-country needs
§Managing the day-to-day execution of several accelerators across geographies from design to launch through demo day
§Executing key events with partners and engaging Boeing functions including communications and marketing, along with resources from Boeing’s core businesses and Boeing International
§Ensuring Boeing provides both scalable and tailored mentoring with cohorts and for individual companies as needed from a bench of subject matter experts sourced across Boeing
§Ensuring our partners provide both scalable and tailored mentoring with cohorts and for individual companies as needed from a world-class bench of entrepreneurs, investors, and subject matter experts
§Integrating participating startups and alumni of previous cohorts into the HorizonX Ventures portfolio including tactics to ensure ongoing value creation with Boeing and for the startups
§Refining & evolving Boeing’s startup accelerator strategies & tactics to reflect market trends, best practices, and Boeing’s core business and HorizonX strategies.
§Ensuring an culture of ‘what is good for the startup is good for Boeing’ while building an environment of respect and inclusion across cultures, people, and teams
§Tailoring elements of accelerator programs and content/curriculum used within them for reuse to accelerate innovation inside Boeing
§Contributing to Boeing HorizonX Ventures pipeline & portfolio of startup investment opportunities

 

Requirements:
§Have served as a program or project manager or similar role with a Startup Accelerator
§Have corporate/industrial, investor, and startup relationships in at least 1 startup ecosystem
§Have personally delivered coaching, mentoring, and curriculum to startups
§Have knowledge of global startup ecosystems and have an appreciation for how different ecosystems operate differently
§Understand the difference between venture capital via corporate venture capital other types of corporate innovation activities

Typical Education/Experience:
Technical bachelor’s degree and typically 14 or more years’ related work experience or a Master’s degree with typically 12 or more years’ or a PhD degree with typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.

 

Will also consider non-technical degrees in Marketing, Arts, Business, Finance, or similar or equivalent combination of education and experience.
