MD5, the Department of Defense National Security Technology Accelerator, is a Department of Defense initiative at New York University and other universities across the country, which is focused on facilitating the development and growth of dual civilian and military use technologies. We do this in three main ways: 1) we educate and train entrepreneurs outside and inside the military on best practices in entrepreneurship and innovation, 2) we bring individuals together to facilitate product ideation and collaboration, and 3) we provide accelerator programming and services to help launch and support relevant early stage ventures.
Role
As the Acceleration Portfolio Managing Director, you will lay the groundwork for, and implement, MD5’s critical IIR program as well as provide logistical support and oversight to the other three programs within the portfolio, including our “deep tech studio” (MD5 Launch), proof of concept center (MD5 Labs), and advanced technology testing program (MD5 Fulcrum). This role requires vision, operational experience, a deep understanding of advanced technology and hardware development, hardware startup acceleration, and the startup ecosystem.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree preferred
- 7- 10 years demonstrated background in hardware technology, product development.
- Significant experience in startups, venture capital, and/or startup accelerators.
- Operations management experience (running the day-to-day operations of a mid-sized organization).
