Structural Capital is looking to hire an investment associate who is self-motivated, able to work independently, and thrives in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment to join its growing team. This is an impactful role that will play a part in fundraising, deal sourcing, deal execution and portfolio monitoring. The investment associate role is a 2 – 3-year position but can become a partner track role for the right individual. The role would be for the Menlo Park office. The associate, working directly with Structural Capital’s senior investment professionals, will have the following responsibilities:
- Performing a variety of financial and operational analyses while conducting strategic, financial, operational and business due diligence during investment processes
- Creating and presenting investment memorandums for potential investment opportunities
- Performing portfolio monitoring and reporting functions, including participating in calls/meetings with management teams, financial statement reviews and analyses, board package reviews, and various quarterly portfolio analyses and reports
- Identification of new investment areas and development of investment theses
- Attending industry and startup events and meeting companies
- Developing various business development reports and presentations, including supporting fundraising initiatives
Qualifications:
- 2 – 3 years of relevant work experience in investment banking, venture capital, private equity or venture debt
- Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier undergraduate program with superior academic performance
- Strong understanding of finance and accounting
- Team player with high attention to detail and a strong work ethic
- Strong quantitative abilities and analytical skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (including writing skills) with willingness to articulate opinions on investment decisions
- Proactive and able to work independently in a small team environment
