RippleWorks Foundation helps the world’s fastest growing social ventures solve their most critical scaling challenge. RippleWorks connects leading expertise from Silicon Valley and the larger tech sector with social ventures for short-term, high-impact volunteer projects that unlock the ventures’ capacity for growth.
RippleWorks is a private foundation with a cryptocurrency-based endowment that is dedicated to driving innovative social impact, through the support of Ripple and its co-founder Chris Larsen. RippleWorks has worked on 50+ projects since launching in May 2015, and will significantly scale its portfolio in 2018. Examples of our projects include:

- Slack’s Chief Security Officer worked with M-Kopa to strengthen its data security. M-Kopa has brought affordable electricity to more than 500,000 homes across Africa.

- Square’s Head of Growth worked with Tienda Pago to improve customer engagement. Tienda Pago’s platform empowers small businesses across Latin America to see 20-30% increases in sales.

- Facebook’s former VP of HR worked with IDEO.org, a poverty-fighting design firm, to reimagine its recruiting strategy. IDEO.org’s portfolio of projects include financial health education, clean water & sanitation, and accessible healthcare.
The Role
The Head of Venture Development will identify the most promising, impactful companies in the world to drive the growth of RippleWorks’ portfolio. This person will work closely with CEOs of high-growth, impactful social ventures to understand and assess their top operational challenges in order to scope high-impact projects.
Specifically, you will:

- Identify and build relationships with the top social ventures in the world, and evaluate them for current/future growth, social impact, operational capacity

- Diagnose top operational needs of a venture by digging into the venture’s priorities and challenges with its CEO and senior leadership

- Gain a deep understanding of trends and progress across geographies and social impact sectors

- Maintain meaningful relationships with leading entrepreneurs, impact investors, and social funders

- Take on stretch projects and tackle new opportunities beyond your “day” job to unlock your potential and advance RippleWorks’ mission

- Play a pivotal part in forming RippleWorks’ strategy, growth, and team culture
REQUIREMENTS
About You
You have been an influential leader and a driving force in an entrepreneurial organization (startup, venture capital, social enterprise). You understand the value, cadence, and needs of innovative, mission-driven entrepreneurs, and bring the executive presence to build lasting relationships with top social investment firms.
You are driven by a fire to solve problems that matter, and wholeheartedly believe that collaboration and execution is the lifeblood of innovation. You are the best at what you do, and you make your teammates better. You believe that a small, thoughtful, committed team can change the world. You move quick, despise bureaucracy, and are known to play a practical joke every once in awhile (or all the time).
Qualifications

- 8+ years of operational leadership at a high-growth, entrepreneurial organization

- Well-versed with startups and entrepreneurial environments with strong operational exposure to a variety of business functions

- Skilled in identifying, initiating, and sustaining strategic relationships

- Demonstrated ability to evaluate companies for their growth, scalability, leadership, and social impact

- Strong public speaking skills and experience leading meetings with external partners

- Proven ability to work in ambiguity with independence

- Passion to identify the next cutting-edge companies and technologies that will have a real impact in the world
