ABOUT THE POSITION
The Associate Director reports to the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and will lead and manage a portfolio of investments in order to fulfill the vision of Spring Point Partners. As part of a small team, this position will support the existing portfolio and drive new investments across the diverse areas of focus, with a primary focus on opportunities in the United States. A passion for impact at scale, strong analytical skills, ability to work with diverse backgrounds, and comfort with a high degree of autonomy in a collaborative organization are important for success in this role.
The Associate Director will regularly interact with leadership across Spring Point Partners programs and operations in the course of executing investment strategies. This position will source investment opportunities both collaboratively with Spring Point program leaders and independently through professional networks, and be able to conduct diligence, structure and close deals with autonomy. This is a new role in the organization, in which it will be expected to lead deals independently of the CIO within 12-18 months of initial hire.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Impact Investments
• Originations: Source, screen, and lead diligence and structuring for new impact investments in Spring Point’s areas of priority, primarily in early to growth-stage ventures
• Portfolio Management: Manage a set of existing, and expanding, relationships and investments in both companies and venture funds; support management and board development needs
• External Relationship Management: build and maintain relationships with a diverse set of investors, thought leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers and other key influencers in aligned sectors
• Internal Collaboration: Cultivate strong working relationships across Spring Point Partners programs, finance, and operational teams as well as with external advisors, counsel, and consultants
• Investment Strategy: Meaningfully contribute to current and new impact investment strategies, and inform their resourcing and execution plans
• Investment Process: Support management of investment workflow (e.g. committee scheduling), as well as help build and manage investment infrastructure (e.g. portfolio reporting)
• Administrative: Manage financial, legal, and documentation requirements for investments; manage contracts with various counsel and diligence advisors as needed
• Professional Development: maintain current industry knowledge in impact investment, venture investment, and relevant sectors
• Special Projects: manages a variety of special projects for the Chief Investment Officer

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
We look forward to the range of professional experiences that candidates provide, and at a minimum, meet these qualifications:
• Business Evaluation: At least five years of experience conducting company evaluation and financial analysis, ideally at a venture fund, fintech/financial services firm, investment bank, and/or management consultancy, predominantly in the U.S. financial market
• Financial Analysis: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and comfort with developing and analyzing complex financial models
• Impact Investment: Experience incorporating social or environmental objectives and metrics in deal sourcing, diligence, structuring, and monitoring, with relevant investment experience in at least one of Spring Point Partners key sectors (water/climate, animal welfare, education, social justice, youth, and community development)
• Technology: Ability to integrate technology into work, and proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), as well as project management or CRM software (Trello, Salesforce, etc.)
• Philadelphia Based: Ability to reside/relocate to the Philadelphia, PA region
• Education: Bachelor’s degree

• Education: Advanced degree (e.g. MBA, MPA) preferred
• Impact Management: Exposure to impact measurement and management practices in the investment context
• Venture Capital: Domain expertise (work experience at a venture fund, accelerator, angel network or similar entity) and early-stage investment experience (e.g. pre-revenue to Series B)
• Relationship Development: Ability to initiate, develop and maintain positive relationships, while
maintaining awareness of the levels of relationships within the organization
• Communication and Confidentiality: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Flexibility: Ability to quickly pivot and thrive in a fluid environment, with flexibility in scheduling for frequent night or weekend events as well as overnight travel
• Team Player: Collaborative, curious, and supportive of others with diverse backgrounds and skillsets and have experience in building new teams/functions/infrastructure
• Entrepreneurial: Excited to contribute to building a new function in the organization and ability to serve as a generalist in the growth of Investments with an interest to innovate within the private equity industry
