Job Grade: Associate / Senior Associate
Location: New York
Core Functions/Responsibilities:
- Assisting the US Consumer team with identifying and assessing investment opportunities in companies spanning several sub-sectors and across capital structures
- Performing deal evaluation, due diligence, industry / company analysis, financial modelling, and assisting execution of new investments
- Preparing investment memorandums and other internal approval documentation for individual investments
- Monitoring US consumer market trends and closely tracking existing portfolio assets to support investment / divestment decisions
- Constantly developing and renewing industry / sector knowledge as well as macro and regulatory changes
- Establishing and cultivating relationships with companies, corporate partners and other relevant institutions
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong academic credentials, ideally from finance/accounting/economics/engineering background (bachelor’s or master’s degree)
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience with a top-tier private equity, investment banking, corporate finance, Big 4 advisory, or other M&A advisory firm
- Prior experience with Consumer-facing companies, M&A or private capital markets highly preferred
- Strong analytical abilities and financial modelling skills, as well as a strong understanding of financial statements to an intermediate level
- Familiar with the use of electronic data sources (e.g. Bloomberg, Factiva, Cap IQ etc)
- Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn and deepen sector / transaction expertise
- Desire to develop / maintain relationships with intermediaries and relevant institutions
- Good communication, interpersonal & teamwork skills
- Driven self-starter with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and to work independently
