Skyview Ventures (“Skyview”) is raising $100M for its second fund, Skyview Ventures Fund II (SV2), to invest in early-stage companies working to decarbonize our energy and transportation infrastructure. Skyview Ventures is an investor that transacts, advises, and invests in renewable energy and carbon reduction markets. Our investments fall along four themes: environmental commodities; solar project finance, development and ownership; electric vehicle infrastructure; and early-stage startups. Since Skyview’s initial venture investment in 2011, we have invested in 23 climate tech startups from our own balance sheet and from our first fund and have realized two exits to date.

Venture Capital Associate

Skyview is looking for a venture capital associate to support the partners of Skyview Ventures in identifying companies, performing due diligence, and evaluating ongoing performance of our investments. Skyview is a differentiated venture capital firm in that we are primarily operators in various clean tech businesses and can leverage these businesses to be more successful venture investors. In addition to working with numerous external resources, this position will leverage Skyview’s various business units and internal resources to support the overall objectives of SV2. The position will work out of the company’s offices in Greenwich, CT.

Responsibilities

Market Research

  • Research technology progress, regulatory updates, industry trends, etc.
  • Attend relevant industry conferences
  • Perform primary research with electric utilities and other key customers of our potential investments

Deal Sourcing

  • Identify new investment opportunities through primary and secondary research
  • Represent Skyview at venture conferences and other groups
  • Deal pipeline management using internal database

Due Diligence

  • Perform management, customer, and vendor interviews
  • Validate market and value proposition for company’s product or servies
  • Identify and analyze competition
  • Engage with technology expects to confirm product validity and performance
  • Create internal deal valuation models

Deal Closing

  • Support deal closing process, including document review, and deal structuring
  • Manage cap tables
  • Manage communications with Skyview co-investors

Portfolio Company Management

  • Facilitate sales, vendor, and stakeholder introductions
  • Manage operational governance and insights
  • Help identify talent for new hires
  • Organize CEO events for our portfolio companies
  • Maintain HR and compensation database for our companies

Requirements

  • MBA from a top business school
  • 3-4 years of investment or industry experience
  • Strong analytical capability
  • Self-motivated
  • Experience with cash flow models and valuing investments
  • Ability to draft credible investment memos and investor presentations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
