VamosVentures is an early-stage impact venture capital fund created to invest in extraordinary diverse tech entrepreneurs with a focus on Latinx founders. While our focus is on Seed Rounds, we will also invest in Pre-Seed and Series A rounds. Our mission is to (i) generate market-rate investment returns, and (ii) deliver meaningful impact through wealth creation, social mobility, unique tech solutions and taking a visible and clear stand as diverse investors.

About the role
As a Senior Associate you will be part of the investment team and have exposure to all parts of the Venture Capital industry – pipeline building, investing, portfolio support – and to a variety of industries, and business strategies. As such, this role is ideal for someone who is intellectually curious, energized by discussing new technologies and startups, is a team collaborator, and willing to lean into responsibility.
What you’ll do
Sourcing: Identify and evaluate emerging startups through pitch decks and initial screening calls with founders. Outreach to promising companies that fit themes and trends we identify.
Diligence: Qualitative and quantitative analysis of prospective investments. This includes evaluation of the market, product, metrics, as well as customer and reference calls. Compile information and insights into presentations and investment memos. Shepherd investment opportunities through the investment process to funding or pass.
Portfolio Support: Work alongside partners to provide individualized and programmatic support for founders that we invest in. These initiatives could include support for identifying near term goals, discovering new talent for hiring, finding new customers, business development partners, and identifying additional capital partners.
Firm Building: Internal initiatives and activities to (i) respond to fund or strategic opportunities; (ii) improve systems and processes regarding investment decision making, (iii) portfolio company support, and investor relations; and (iv) build or support team and firm values and culture.
Ecosystem Development: Take a clear and visible role in your community, and the VC and founder community, by participating in events, panels, or creating content (blog posts, social media, events, etc.) that reflect firm values, mission, and seek to empower diverse founders.
Requirements
Deep analytical skills: You will be introduced to new technologies, business models, and industries. This requires you to learn quickly then synthesize complex concepts.
Strong written and verbal communication: You will interact with various stakeholders including founders, limited partners, partner organizations, and co-investors.
Demonstrated Passion: Loves talking about the startup and VC ecosystem and holds thoughtful perspectives on new technologies and emerging trends.
Proactive & Resourceful: Naturally takes initiative to contribute, add value, and collaborate. Creative thinker and able to “figure it out” to fulfill responsibilities and deliver results.
Ownership and Detail: Naturally takes ownership of tasks, initiatives, deals, and firm. Takes personal pride in work product and deliverables.
Experience: minimum of about 3 years of work experience; some or all of it at a venture-backed startup, a VC fund, investment banking, or a strategy consulting firm.
Personal: conviction around our mission of investing and impact. Humility, empathy, integrity, generosity, and search for greatness are all required traits. A sense of humor doesn’t hurt.
Location: The candidate should be based in or willing to relocate to Los Angeles, California.
Compensation: Competitive package, work flexibility and relocation support if required
