All of us at Spark realize that intelligence, creativity, and talent are everywhere, but access and opportunity are not.
Starting this summer, we will run an annual internship program geared to underrepresented groups. Interns will join us for four to six weeks and work alongside our tight-knit investing team.
We realize this program is minimal in terms of the work that needs to be done. Our hope is that our portfolio companies will pledge to join us in hiring summer interns from diverse backgrounds this year and moving forward. We believe that together, we can offer hundreds of talented students tech work experience and a wedge into the tech community.
We recognize that our community also needs to address better representation on the cap table, the board room, and in partnerships. This is one of many steps we believe we can take together to create change.
