Opportunity
Overton is hiring a Platform intern to begin immediately. The intern will primarily be responsible for leading Overton’s brand and marketing efforts, with opportunity for exposure to venture investing. If successful, the intern could transition to a hybrid role after August and take on investment responsibilities (sourcing/strategy & evaluating investment opportunities) in addition to the platform work. This is a great opportunity for someone with a marketing, branding or journalism background looking to transition to alternative investments.
The Platform Intern will be responsible for building out content focused on Overton and our portfolio companies. This could include producing content for newsletters, helping organize virtual events with industry experts and entrepreneurs, building out the firm’s social media presence, and long-form writing. There are opportunities to interface with our portfolio company teams, attend industry events, and learn about the investment and operating side of venture capital.
Candidates should have a strong interest in learning about the venture capital industry and a passion for entrepreneurship and working with early-stage companies. This is a small team where interns will have the opportunity to own workflows and have an outsized impact. A stipend will be awarded upon completion of the internship.
Responsibilities

Create and curate content for brand marketing efforts to increase Overton’s presence in various forms of media

Lead preparation of weekly or bi-weekly newsletters for VC and startup community

Perform industry/sector and company analyses

Meet with management teams, industry experts and internal advisers to help source and screen new investment opportunities
About You

Prior relevant experience is a requirement, and prior venture capital experience (at a firm or venture-backed start-up) is a plus. Experience level of 3+ years preferred.

An expert interviewer and storyteller, with the ability to ask insightful questions and turn an interview into a compelling story

A creative eye, whether in writing tweets, newsletters, or other content

Strong attention to detail (you edit everything twice)

Strong quantitative and analytical skills and expertise in Excel

Strong presentation skills and proficiency in PowerPoint
