Looking for a launching pad for a career in social change? New Media Ventures (NMV) is hiring an Associate to help us take our work to the next level! This is a new full-time role with a two-year lifecycle reporting to our Chief Operating Officer. The role will give you unparalleled visibility into the workings of a social good investment firm, spanning fundraising, investing, and strategy. It can also help the right candidate define their interests and advance their career goals in this space. This role is 70% administrative, 30% program support and is fully funded for two years.
About Us
NMV invests in entrepreneurs and activists transforming our democracy through innovation. We work to shift power to benefit more people, and support companies and organizations that are telling new stories, building advocacy movements, and driving civic engagement. Over the past decade, we have funded over 100 startups, from Upworthy and Blavity to Indivisible, Coworker, Mijente, and Vote.org. Our open investment process receives hundreds of applications from the most innovative leaders in the progressive movement, and gives us an incomparable view of a rapidly changing field.
We do all this with a tiny staff and nimble organization, and we are looking for a stellar associate who will help us keep the trains running on time. This role is critical to ensuring that New Media Ventures runs smoothly and efficiently, particularly as we look to grow and scale our work.
About You
You’re a self-starter who’s extremely organized and thrives in a highly collaborative environment. You are detail oriented with amazing follow-through, take initiative to solve problems where you see them, and enjoy pitching in to support others. You’re curious about the work we do – the ultimate team player who can pinch hit to push projects to completion.
We particularly encourage people from communities historically and presently excluded from the investment and startup spaces to apply. NMV prioritizes equity and inclusion. We recognize that diversity of perspectives and experiences makes our work better.
