Career Opportunity
As integral part of the NewSpace Capital Investment team, the Investment Principal will be based in the United States to scout, create relationships, and identify/execute investment opportunities in the vibrant US space ecosystem
Responsibilities
Deal Scouting
- Lead the scouting and network building activities in the US space ecosystem, and source proprietary deal flow, partnerships, and co-investment opportunities under Partners supervision
- Monitor market trends and emerging technologies in the US space ecosystem and adjacent industries. Attend conferences, exhibitions and other industry related events.
- Develop investment theses aligned with NewSpace’s investment strategy
Due Diligence & Analysis
- Lead full due diligence, including the coordination of external experts, evaluate investment risks (technology, market, execution, regulatory, financial) and develop mitigation strategies
- Build financial models, stress tests, valuation analyses, scenario and sensitivity analyses
- Prepare investment memos and submit to Partner’s Investment Committee
Deal Execution
- Structure and negotiate term sheets, equity and debt instruments, governance rights, etc.
- Coordinate legal, tax, accounting, and compliance teams
- Manage transaction execution, closing, and post-closing integration (including value-creation KPIs)
Portfolio Management & Value Creation
- Support portfolio companies with strategic planning, KPI tracking, performance monitoring, board participation. Monitor commercial and financial performance, forecasts, updates
- Facilitate access to customers, government contracts, strategic partners, suppliers, and new markets
- Take ownership of a live map of buyer’s universe (strategic and financials) and banker contacts to ensure exit preparedness from day 1
- Assist with follow-on investments, exit planning, M&A, IPOs. Manage divestiture negotiations and deal execution and prepare related decision documentation for submission to Investment Committee.
Education and core Skills requirements
- University degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical background and experience, with MBA and/or financial certifications (e.g. CFA, CAIA) considered as a strong plus
- US citizenship, ideally with national security clearance
- At least 7-10 years of professional experience, ideally gained in the deep tech investment industry and/or in relevant leadership roles in the DeepTech ecosystem (e.g. M&A team lead, product manager, etc.)
- Proven practical experience in the following areas:
- Understanding of the key characteristics of a VC or PE Investment Fund
- Knowledge of the Space and DeepTech eco-system, ideally with an established sectorial relationships/network into industry, NASA, DoD, etc.
- Comprehensive investment appraisal experience, including deal negotiations and due diligence of Space or DeepTech targets, financial modelling and valuation, team management and development, as well as business performance monitoring
- Familiarity with ITAR, EAR, CFIUS, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)/ Defence Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)
- Advanced skills in MS-Office applications. Advanced fluency in oral and written English and excellent presentation skills
- Willingness to undertake US domestic and international travel

- Proven leadership skills, with ability to coordinate multi-functional teams towards timely and creative execution. Lead by example in organisational/investment ethics and integrity. Goal oriented, self-driven, agile and flexible
- Highly collaborative individual, able to build relationships across all levels and functions, both internally and with the key stakeholders of the space ecosystem. Demonstrated cultural sensitivity, with the knowledge of additional languages considered a plus
- Willingness to learn new things and to look into a broad range of topics, with an eagerness to stay up-to-date on the Space eco-system, its developments and trends
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
Additional Capabilities Valued As A Plus
- Experience working with or in government / defence / regulatory / compliance environments
- Prior board experience or acting in an advisory role to startups
- Experience in cross-border investing
- Understanding of ESG, climate / sustainability applications enabled by Space, and its inclusion in the Fund’s investment decisions.
