Position: Investment Principal

Location: Mumbai, India

Role Overview:

Artha Continuum Fund seeks a dynamic and experienced Investment Principal to lead our efforts in identifying, evaluating, structuring, investing, and divesting in early growth companies. This influential role requires exceptional leadership, deep investment acumen, and a proven track record in venture capital. The Principal will play a critical role in managing our robust portfolio and executing new investments, with the goal of driving growth and maximizing returns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investment Management: Lead the identification, evaluation, and structuring of investment opportunities, conducting thorough due diligence, and managing deals from Series A to Series C stages.
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee and nurture a diverse portfolio of 15-20 companies, providing strategic direction and operational guidance to foster growth and market leadership.
  • Deal Structuring: Negotiate and structure investment deals, ensuring alignment with fund objectives and investor interests.
  • Fundraising and Investor Relations: Participate actively in fundraising efforts, develop new pipelines for Limited Partners (LPs), and maintain strong relationships with institutional and large investors. Ensure transparent and timely communication with LPs.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and lead junior investment professionals, promoting a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning within the venture capital division.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Collaborate with managing partners and investment committees on strategic market research and initiatives to support the growth of portfolio companies and secure follow-on funding rounds.

Qualifications:

  • Education: MBA in Finance from a reputed institution or Chartered Accountancy with relevant work experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years in venture capital or private equity, with significant experience in managing an extensive portfolio and executing numerous investments annually.
  • Skills: Strong financial acumen, negotiation skills, operational management experience, and team leadership capabilities.
  • Track Record: Proven success in managing investments and driving growth within portfolio companies.
  • LP Engagement: Demonstrated ability to work with and involve LPs in investment deals.

Compensation:

  • Fixed Package: Competitive base salary.
  • Annual Fixed Bonus: Paid every 12 months.
  • Performance Bonus: Annual performance bonus based on personal and investment performance.
  • Carried Interest: Participation in the profits of the investments.
  • ESOPs: Eligibility for Employee Stock Option Plans after 12 months in the role.
  • Fundraising Incentives: Linked to the amount raised, acknowledging efforts to secure the fund’s financial foundation.

The position is designed to develop future managing partners for Artha Continuum Fund and other upcoming Artha funds. We seek individuals with the experience and ambition to grow into partnership roles and potentially lead new funds within the Artha Group.

Location & Travel:

• Base Location: Mumbai, India.

• Travel: Required for investment management and portfolio oversight.

Portfolio:

You will manage a pre-existing portfolio, including companies like LeverageEdu, Biryani by Kilo, GalaxEye, and Laminar (now APMC).
