Fund Overview:

Overmatch is an early stage venture capital fund focused on deep tech, defense, and space startups at pre-seed, seed and series A. Alongside this core focus, we syndicate a select number of deals at later stages that align with our thesis.

We were founded out of a belief the next 10 years will shape the next century of economic prosperity and global security for the United States. The convergence of AI, quantum computing, autonomous systems, advanced robotics, and synthetic biology will transform industries and society. Our mission is to support founders at the forefront of this geopolitical competition.

Position:

We’re looking for someone willing to learn anything, solve anything, move quickly, while still having good judgment. 

The ideal candidate is interested in deeptech, western values, and the geopolitical balance of power.

As a Partner, you will be pivotal in identifying and investing in startups, helping portfolio companies grow, and shaping the strategic direction of the firm. You should have a proven track record in venture capital or equivalent entrepreneurial endeavors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investment Strategy: Develop and execute investment strategies aligned with the firm’s vision. Source and lead investments in deep tech, defense, and space startups. Conduct thorough due diligence, including market, technical, and financial analysis.
  • Portfolio Management: Provide strategic guidance to portfolio companies, helping founders overcome challenges and achieve growth milestones. Leverage networks to connect them with customers, partners, and investors.
  • Thought Leadership: Represent the firm at industry events, build relationships with key stakeholders, and contribute to the firm’s reputation through public speaking and publications.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with partners to refine the firm’s investment thesis. Mentor junior team members to foster a culture of excellence and continuous learning.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:
      • Experience (5+ years) in venture capital or as a successful entrepreneur in the deeptech sector.
      • Demonstrated track record of leading successful investments.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • A good sense of humor (venture is intense, humor helps ;-)
    • Ability to assess frontier technologies and business models.
    • Ability to read people.
