Role Summary:
We are actively seeking an Investment Partner to join Aduna Capital at the ground level. This role involves overseeing the identification, evaluation, and investment in impact-led, tech-enabled companies across underserved regions in Africa. The Investment Partner will make final investment decisions, build strategic relationships, support portfolio companies, and lead the investment team. Additionally, the role includes refining our investment approach with the General Partners, managing the mid and back end of the fund, and ensuring compliance through our third-party fund administrator.
Key Responsibilities
- Deal Sourcing and Assessment: Oversee the identification and evaluation of potential investment opportunities conducted by Associates and Analysts.
- Investment Decisions: Make final investment decisions and manage the full investment lifecycle, including sourcing, evaluating, and executing deals.
- Networking and Representation: Build and maintain strong relationships with startups, investors, and other stakeholders. Represent Aduna Capital at industry events and conferences.
- Mid and Back Office Management: Oversee drawdowns, manage distributions, and conduct ongoing valuations.
- Divestments and Exits: Manage the divestment process and successful exits of portfolio investments.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of Associates, Analysts, and Interns, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Strategic Direction: Work with team to develop and refine Aduna’s investment focus
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree: A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, computer science, engineering, or a related field is required. A MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
- Experience: Extensive experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, impact investing or development finance. History managing a fund at a country or regional level is a plus .
- Leadership: Proven experience in building and leading teams .
- Knowledge and Network: Deep understanding of the African VC and impact investing ecosystem with a strong network.
- Skills: Excellent analytical, negotiation, and transaction skills. Superior communication abilities.
- Tech Trends and Strategies: A deep understanding of tech trends, startup growth strategies, business models, and impact investing.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work remotely and travel as needed for business and portfolio management.
- Passion: Genuine interest in creating impact in underserved communities and closing the female funding gap.
