New Investments: As opportunities are identified, the Manager will apply their financial modelling skills and business acumen to identify the key business drivers and relevant strategic issues and, provide written assessments of the company’s worthiness for investment. This work will be done directly with the brand’s entrepreneurs and DV colleagues.
Existing Investments: The manager will work closely with the North America Portfolio Finance Director to review and evaluate brand performance across various financial and commercial KPIs and provide a written assessment on the company’s worthiness for further investment. In addition, Diageo and DV may identify opportunities to renegotiate existing deals and pursue a similar process to update their deal structure.
Portfolio Modelling: Beyond individual deal structures, the Manager will analyze the portfolio in aggregate and/or in clusters with the goal of modelling potential growth outcomes and risk factors; identifying insights and making recommendations as part of an annual planning process.
Legal Transaction: The Manager will become familiar with term sheets and long-form agreements used in the various transactions. Once Diageo confirms interest in making an offer, the Manager will support the negotiation process between Diageo staff and attorneys and the target company as needed.
Stakeholder Management: The Manager will work in tandem with the global Investments team for business planning, process management and portfolio analysis/reporting purposes, while also fostering strong relationships with Diageo’s Business Development team and external legal counsel.
FINRA Compliance: Establishing and maintaining eligibility to be a registered representative and FINRA member. This includes providing and/or completing the appropriate examinations (Series 79) within 6 months of hire.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
• 4-5 Years of experience in a Finance function at a CPG Start-Up or CPG-focused investment vehicle (VC, M&A and/or Corp Dev)
• Strong analytical and modelling skills with an ability to work with large, disparate data sets including e-commerce and retail sales information
• Strong financial acumen and familiarity with common investment terminology / mechanics
• Structured communication skills including the ability to write clear, concise investment papers, whilst being able to distil down complex ideas into simple building blocks
• Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills. You will need to speak both “startup” and “corporate” to collaborate effectively with founders/entrepreneurs, other DV team members and colleagues at Diageo
• Knowledge of and experience within the FINRA regulatory regime
• Passionate about early-stage businesses, innovation and premium consumer goods. (Experience in F&B a plus but not essential)

• Base Salary $100-140k plus benefits (Health Insurance, 401k)
