Location: Washington, D.C. (Hybrid Work Schedule) ~3 days in office per week
Position Summary:
New Catalyst Strategic Partners is looking to add an Investor to work collaboratively with firm leadership and help execute the fund’s investment activities across a range of private markets strategies. The successful candidate will exhibit a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset and strong communication and financial modeling skills. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new private investment firm as an early team member and participate alongside firm leadership in many key activities required to start and scale a successful alternative investment firm.
This role will allow candidates to gain hands-on experience in supporting emerging managers build and scale their businesses (such as: operational support, fundraising, infrastructure development, and team hiring). The candidate will have exposure to a broad set of transactions including: GP seeding, primary fund underwriting, and co-investments. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy entrepreneurial environments while benefitting from the resources and engagement from one of the world’s largest asset managers, Apollo Global Management (see below for more details).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
▪Play an active role in investment transactions (both manager due diligence and company diligence) from start to finish, including screening opportunities, conducting due diligence, and preparing investment memos
▪Manage deal pipeline CRM and assist in prioritizing managers for investment consideration
▪Build and maintain financial models for transactions across: (i) GP seeding /staking investments, (ii) Co-sponsored / co-investment direct transactions, (iii) Primary fund underwriting and (iv) Secondaries
▪Draft investment committee memos to synthesize findings from investment due diligence
▪Participate in manager meetings and due diligence sessions
▪Coordinate operational due diligence workflow and facilitate closing process
▪Supervise and mentor junior investors/interns as the team expands
▪Support the investment team with value-creation initiatives to our underlying portfolio GPs and companies
▪Support the development of pitch materials and marketing collateral (including preparing presentations and financial analysis) for New Catalyst’s fundraising initiatives. Draft responses for investor questionnaires and create analysis to respond to investor questions
▪Assist with firm strategic initiatives / special projects (business development, bespoke research projects, white papers, etc.) on an as-needed basis
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
▪~2-6 years of experience in financial services (private equity, investment banking, consulting, M&A, corporate strategy etc.), with a strong interest in a career in Private Equity
▪Bachelor’s degree with outstanding academic credentials
▪Strong Excel proficiency with experience in financial analysis and financial modelling
▪Strong written and oral communication skills
▪Ability to conduct industry research, articulate opinions and write clear and concise memoranda on investment opportunities
▪Experience in GP seeding or GP stakes, principal investing, secondaries, or FIG banking are a plus but not required

COMPENSATION
The expected total cash compensation (including performance-based bonus) will range from $150,000- $250,000. Actual compensation will be based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and alignment with the firm’s needs.
