We’re looking for an Investor to join our team.
This is a sourcing role first. Our investors help us meet the next great founders before anyone else. They’re the people out in the ecosystem building relationships, chasing down themes, and developing the deal sense to know what’s worth our conviction. It’s a central seat at a flat, inclusive firm with a strong track record of promoting from within and helping our team grow.
About the role
- Grow Lerer Hippeau’s network and source early-stage investment opportunities.
- Build and nurture relationships with up-and-coming founders and operators.
- Be an active member of the NYC investment community: show up to (and host) the events, and build and keep the relationships that make you the person founders call first.
- Continuously learn about new themes, trends, and technologies, and find the founders building in those spaces.
- Develop deal sense and conviction around the companies you’re evaluating.
- Contribute to quantitative and qualitative diligence, including market sizing, financial analysis, competitive analysis, and more.
- Help support existing portfolio companies through project-based work alongside Partners.
About you
- You are drawn to people and gifted at building things. Sourcing isn’t a task you check off; it’s how you already operate. You meet people, you keep them in your orbit, and you connect dots others miss.
- You’re native to where the next generation of founders is already forming: the technical scenes, talent-magnet companies, on-campus labs, and the corners of the internet where the up and coming, most technical people are shipping before anyone’s paying attention.
- You’re technical and can earn a builder’s trust. You hold your own on the product and know how things are actually built. You understand how technical founders think, because you’ve done the work.
- You have a strong point of view on where various markets are heading, not just next year, but in the next 10 years. You understand the “why now” and where value will accrue.
- You’re opinionated. You form a point of view, argue it well, and are unafraid to respectfully challenge others.
- You’re collaborative and hard-working – a team player who thrives in ambiguity and isn’t afraid to ask for help when you need it.
- You move fast. You operate with urgency and a winning mindset.
Note: Your path here could look like a lot of things: maybe you built a product at a fast-growing startup or have invested at another firm. What matters less is the exact resume; what matters most is how you work, how you think about founders, and the networks you’ve built.

We expect the base salary range for this position to be between $125,000 – $200,000 per year, plus a competitive equity package. Your actual compensation will be determined based on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
