Our Fintech Thesis
At Acrew, we believe that we are standing at the precipice of a new era for financial innovation. We’ve seen fintech sentiment shift from fervor to sobriety over the last few years — with the dust settled, now is the time to build. As we saw with the first major cohort of fintechs, born in the wake of the Global Financial Crisis, macroeconomic volatility creates new and meaningful financial pains for consumers and businesses. Entrepreneurs who build to solve these very real problems can be extremely impactful. We’re still in the dawn of how modern technology can rewrite the world’s financial system. The first big wave of fintechs were characterized by entrepreneurs bringing existing financial products online. Monolithic incumbents still have significant market share and global dominance — while fintechs have just scratched the surface. In this next era, with the proliferation of new financial infrastructure and AI, founders will fundamentally reimagine how financial institutions should serve their customers.

Fintech Associate/Sr Associate Role at Acrew Capital
As an investor at Acrew, you are a tech-savvy self-starter with strong analytical capabilities who enjoys digging into new industries, is excited to work closely with our companies, and believes venture can be practiced as a team sport. Additionally:

• You have probably spent 2–3 years in venture capital, management consulting, investment banking or in a product or analytical role at a scaled fintech (eg — Stripe, Ramp, Plaid, Brex, Robinhood, NuBank, Block) or startup. You may have even started a company previously. Ideally, you’ve had exposure to the fintech ecosystem.
• You are constantly reading about new startups and technologies, you identify and play with new products, and you have a view on the next big opportunity in the spaces that you and the firm are passionate about.
• You have a great tech network that you’re constantly expanding and you love connecting with new, exciting people and ideas (both IRL & online).
• You want to gain exposure to the full investment process and work closely and collaboratively with our team and our companies.
• We strongly believe that venture is an apprenticeship model and we hope that people will thrive in their careers at Acrew and be here for the long term.
• You are proactive and resourceful in understanding the nuances of businesses as potential investment opportunities.
• You’re entrepreneurial or were an entrepreneur yourself and are inspired by the opportunity to be scrappy and build from the ground up. You want to guide great ideas into becoming great companies. Together with Acrew, you’re interested in representing the next generation of venture capital.
• You’re based in the Bay Area or would be willing to relocate down the road

You will be involved in supporting the team in all aspects of the investment process across Acrew’s LTV (early) & DCF (growth) funds, including:

• Conducting due diligence of prospective new and follow-on investments, including analysis of financials, key metrics, growth opportunities, and future financing prospects.
• Developing analytical perspectives on markets and opportunities across our thesis areas.
• Evaluating and screening companies that might present new investment opportunities.
• Helping Acrew’s portfolio companies continue to grow and attract talent.
• Attending conferences and industry events as a representative of Acrew.
• Helping to evaluate and implement initiatives that build upon the broader Acrew ecosystem.
