VC Internship @ TEDCO in Columbia, MD

The Maryland Technology Development Corporation d/b/a TEDCO was established by the Maryland General Assembly in 1998, with a mission to identify and cultivate early stage-technology and life sciences organization, and to assist with commercialization and transfer to bring innovation to the market throughout the state of Maryland.

TEDCO is seeking a project intern to support the Equitech Growth Fund. This intern will collect, evaluate and prepare data-driven insights that accelerate efforts to build an inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem. This intern will report to the Equitech and Ecosystem Manager.  

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data from recent grant applications.
• Identify market trends, opportunities and gaps within the Maryland tech and innovation ecosystem.
• Identify process improvements for Equitech program operations, including applicant intake, review and program analysis.
• Present findings and strategic recommendations to relevant TEDCO team members.

What will a successful candidate look like?

• Demonstrated experience managing, analyzing and producing meaningful information from qualitative and quantitative data.
• Demonstrated interest in economic development, data visualization, market research and/or impact management and measurement.
• Comfortable experimenting with various data analytics/visualization tools as needed
• Self-starter, high attention to detail, organized with an ability to work efficiently and independently.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Undergraduates with an anticipated graduation date of May 2027 or earlier are welcome to apply. Masters/PhD level are encouraged to apply.
• Anticipated hours: 8-12 hours weekly, flexible & remote work hours. There is a standing meeting once per week with TEDCO staff between 9-5 PM.

Pay: $20/hour
