The Role

GreyMatter seeks an intellectually curious, proactive, and highly independent Summer Associate to join our investment team. The successful candidate will be involved in critical components of our investment process, including market research, diligence on prospective investments, and direct customer interviews. This role is ideal for candidates seeking exposure to venture capital, healthcare innovation, and startup ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends, competitive dynamics, and promising mental health innovations.
  • Perform detailed due diligence on prospective portfolio companies, assessing factors such as business model viability, team capabilities, technology differentiation, and market opportunity.
  • Participate in and independently conduct calls with customers, industry experts, and other stakeholders to validate investment hypotheses and gather qualitative insights.
  • Synthesize research findings and diligence outcomes into concise, compelling investment memos.
  • Collaborate directly with the partners and broader investment team on strategic projects and internal initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Current MBA student or exceptional undergraduate with a demonstrated record of academic excellence.
  • Prior experience or demonstrated interest in venture capital, startups, consulting, investment banking, healthcare innovation, or related fields preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with research tools and financial modeling is a plus.

Duration & Location

  • Summer internship duration: approximately 10-12 weeks (flexible based on academic schedule).
  • Location: Remote with the option for hybrid participation based on mutual agreement.
