Draper Associates
I’m looking for an MBA intern this fall, starting early September. Someone who owns a network, and determined to reach their full creative potential. Someone who looks at our portfolio and tells me what we’re missing at Draper.
That last part is the application.
DM me a thesis we’re not investing in. Be specific. It does not have to be long.
You can start with something broad like, “the space economy,” then go deeper. BE CREATIVE – cannot stress this enough. We are rarely reaching our fullest creative potential. And more than ever, we need that in VC. Don’t just use Claude. Take time to sit and think.
The idea matters more than the length of the thesis. More concise is better.
Tell me which sectors in the space you’ve identified are likely underpriced at seed and pre-seed right now.
Give me one-liners on companies you think should exist:
“Internet infrastructure in space.”
“Orbital factories building out solar arrays.”
“Automated drug testing and formulation labs in orbit.”
That level of specificity. That kind of thinking. (I spent < 5 min on that, so pls spend some more time, and I’m certain you can come up with something 1000x better.)
Just to be clear, it does not have to be about space, it can be anything.
Look at what we have already backed first. We are generalist at heart, but so far these past couple years, we have loved deep tech, frontier biotech, AI & robotics, defense, aerospace, crypto, the wild and the unconventional – then find the white space.
Pitch to me concisely as if you’re a founder.
How can we be VCs if we don’t put ourselves in founders’ shoes?
The best application won’t be a resume. It’ll be a thesis that makes me feel like I’ve been sleeping on something that will be obvious in 6-10 years from now.
DM me or add me with a note.
I’m on vacation with my family the next two weeks, but I’ll read everything.
Let’s invest out of that creative thesis together.
