Role: Distilled Intelligence Intern

Location: Hybrid (ideally in NYC, SF, LA, or DC)

Commitment: Part-time, flexible hours

The Gist:

We’re looking for someone sharp, proactive, and great with people to help us grow Distilled Intelligence — Fortify Ventures’ startup competition and core brand. You’ll be working directly with the Fortify team, helping surface standout founders, bring in top-tier investors, and build relationships across the venture ecosystem. It’s a community-forward role with a business development angle — part sales, part strategy, all about connecting the right people.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Sourcing strong early-stage startups and founders to apply to Distilled Intelligence
• Helping vet and review Distilled Intelligence applicants (direct input to the diligence/application pipeline)
• Building targeted outreach lists (VCs, angels, accelerators, etc.)
• Creating deep dives into new spaces that could be interesting for DI
• Reaching out to investors and operators — in scrappy ways — and getting them engaged
• Representing Fortify and DI in conversations and events (both online and in person)
• Pitching in on creative growth ideas and ways to generate buzz (helping create viral growth)
• Helping out on the ops side when needed — we run lean, so everyone wears a few hats

This Could Be a Fit If:

• You’re in grad school (MBA is preferable, but undergraduate upperclassmen are also welcome) and trying to break into venture
• You want to learn more about deal sourcing and build your sourcing network
• You’ve worked at a startup or in a sales/growth role and know how to get stuff done
• You’re organized, driven by outcomes, and can run with a project without hand-holding
• You’re plugged into the early-stage scene and know who’s who
• You’re great at shaking hands and building relationships — people take your call because they want to

Bonus If:

• You’ve worked in VC, growth, or biz dev before
• You have time flexibility to attend local in person events
• You’re chronically on X and LinkedIn, with the ability to convert digital to IRL
• You’re comfortable with tools like Notion, Affinity, Crunchbase, and PitchBook
• You already keep tabs on the venture world — and most importantly, understand the lingo
