The Venture/Innovations Associate is an experienced financial associate with adept knowledge of venture capital and technology. This Associate sources and evaluates technology solutions – particularly in real estate – investment, and advisor opportunities; supports the execution of investment theses; assists in product review for potential deployment at the company and/or our properties; and lends assistance to our portfolio companies. The Venture/Innovations Associate is both a highly independent individual and a strong team player, working closely with both founders and the Veritas team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Venture Investing: Perform diligence, create briefs and memos, and execute upon investment opportunities and transactions; Create research-based industry reports and competitive analyses to identify attractive areas of investment opportunity and competitive analyses; Evaluate and monitor the ongoing performance of portfolio company investments; Assist in maintaining deal pipeline to memorialize all screened investment opportunities; Participate in fund raising activities, including presentations and marketing
Innovations Strategy: Identify areas of operational improvement or enhancement at both the company and property level under guidance of the Family office Portfolio Manager; understand and assist in execution of the Innovations strategy of technology implementation; support the end-to-end launch of such technologies, from initial contact to pilot testing and full implementation.
Implementation Management: Assist in managing implementation strategy across the organization and effectively collaborate with related departments; provide support in evaluating, deploying, and monitoring the use of real estate technology initiatives;
Market Research: Develop product maps and knowledge base of the PropTech multi-family ecosystem; identify and evaluate technologies that may integrate into existing real estate portfolio.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
2-5 years of experience in venture capital or innovations field, with interest in real estate technology a plus
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Finance, Business, or related field. MBA degree preferred
Experience in screening startups, performing due-diligence, and supporting deal execution
Exceptional modeling and analytical skills
Strong communication and presentation skills
Team player with strong interpersonal skills; can build effective relationships across departments and outside of the organization
Ability to think in an innovative way and willing to test new ideas
Self-motivated, responsible, accountable, and mature, with an exceptional work ethic
Strong organizational, and attention-to-detail skills; ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize work, and manage time effectively
