Role Description

This role offers the opportunity to be a vital member of an entrepreneurial, growing investment team. The position will report to senior investment team members and support all aspects of the investment process and portfolio development, as detailed below. This is a dynamic role with a high ceiling, allowing the individual to develop their career with hands-on experience in healthcare growth investing.

Responsibilities

Valtruis is looking to add an Investment Associate to our team. Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Underwriting, modeling, and analyzing potential investment opportunities;
  • Participating in and supporting all aspects of due diligence on new investments, including business analysis, thesis development, competitive landscape, financial modeling, and deal structuring;
  • Conducting market and business research and synthesizing findings into analyses and presentations to identify compelling investment themes and new sectors;
  • Sourcing potential investment opportunities, including identifying promising companies and founders through networking, research, and outreach;
  • Providing strategic support to existing Valtruis portfolio companies, including portfolio reporting and value creation initiatives;
  • Supporting the operations and management of the Valtruis platform.

Essential Skills

Candidates should have 2-4 years of full-time applicable experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, strategy consulting, and/or healthcare. Candidates should have a passion for healthcare and an interest in investing, but previous experience in both domains is not mandatory. Qualified candidates will likely also meet the following criteria:

  • Experience building detailed financial models and related analyses;
  • Experience conducting market research across different domains, including the ability to create structured deliverables and thoughtful work outputs;
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint;
  • A self-starter with a strong sense of personal responsibility, able to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with limited supervision (including proactively seeking guidance when needed);
  • Intellectual curiosity, an analytical mindset, and a demonstrated passion for learning;
  • A quick learner with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including an ability to interface with internal and external executive leaders;
  • Highly organized, resourceful, execution- and detail-oriented, and a strong work ethic;
  • Team player with low ego;
  • Experience working across multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment;
  • A desire to be part of a highly collaborative team where we all strive to win together.

Salary

The base salary range for this role is $90,000-$120,000. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package includes participation in an executive bonus program targeted at 60-80% of base salary. Actual compensation may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, prior performance, and business sector.
