Position overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Investment Associate to join REdimension Capital. This role will initially support the full range of activities involved in providing fund management and advisory services to the REdimension Real Estate Technology and Sustainability Fund I (the “Fund”), including investment appraisals, deal execution, fundraising, portfolio management and fund administration support, as well as broader support for REdimension Capital. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, a self-starter, and a passion for venture capital and start-up ecosystems.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will, in due course, qualify and be registered as an Authorised Representative of REdimension Capital in accordance with the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) Act.

Key Responsibilities

Investment appraisals and deal execution

  • Conduct market research and industry analysis to identify potential investment opportunities
  • Assist in the evaluation and due diligence of investment prospects, including financial modelling, valuation, and risk assessments
  • Prepare investment committee memorandums and related materials for internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate in meetings with entrepreneurs, current and potential clients and co-investors to assess potential deals
  • Assist in transaction execution of approved deals, including participating and commenting on legal processes.

Portfolio management

  • Support the senior team in their engagement with portfolio company management teams, building direct relationships and working closely to monitor performance and progress
  • Coordinate with portfolio company management teams to gather data and prepare performance reports
  • Facilitate connections between portfolio companies and potential customers, partners and advisors
  • Assist in organising and conducting regular check-ins and review meetings

Fundraising

  • Support the senior team in fundraising efforts, including the preparation of fundraising materials and presentations
  • Conduct research on potential investors and maintain the business database of investor contacts
  • Assist in organising investor meetings, roadshows and other events
  • Track and report on fundraising progress and investor relations activities

Fund administration

  • Assist in the day-to-day management of the Fund’s outsourced fund administration function, including managing drawdown requests, new investor onboarding procedures and monthly reporting
  • Support the preparation and distribution of reporting to investors
  • Coordinate with legal, accounting, and other service providers to ensure smooth fund operations

Administrative support

  • Provide administrative support to the senior management team, including preparing reports, coordinating meetings, managing documentation and compliance-related matters, and other essential tasks
  • Support the management of office operations and resources

Additional responsibilities

  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and market developments relevant to our investment strategy
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, networking events, and other professional gatherings
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the firm’s strategic initiatives and business development efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field; CA(SA), MBA or CFA designation is preferable
  • 2-5 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, consulting, or a related field. An understanding of the real estate and / or technology sector is a plus
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with good levels of initiative
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail
