Overlap Holdings is looking for an Investment Associate 

Who we are: Overlap Holdings is a Frontier Tech venture firm with a unique business model. The company brings a Wall Street financing mindset to this capital-intensive ecosystem, as detailed in this exclusive article from The WSJ. Overlap has three business lines: (1) Our Investing business invests in Seed, A, and B rounds of Frontier Tech companies out of our inaugural $33mm Fund 1; (2) Our Capital Solutions business helps Frontier Tech companies raise debt capital through external providers, leveraging 30+ years of capital markets expertise; and (3) Our Government Solutions business helps frontier tech companies determine the best non-dilutive government funding for their needs. This symbiotic model yields best-in-class deal flow and a flywheel that benefits Overlap’s PortCos, LPs, and other stakeholders. 

What you’ll be doing: We are seeking an Investment Associate to join Overlap as the third member of our investment team (alongside Principal Gauri Jaswal and Founder & CEO Justin Stevens, who spent 18+ years at Apollo Management prior to starting Overlap). You’ll be: 

• Assisting the team in deal sourcing, through a combination of online research and in-person relationship building with VC firms and founders in Overlap’s network ● Playing an integral role in all aspects of new Investment diligence: cap table/financial review, technical diligence, review of data rooms, etc. 
• Portfolio company support/assistance/tracking 
• Updating and maintaining the firm’s best-in-class Relationship Management Database (in Notion), which is the central hub for our investment collaboration and outreach activities; building/maintaining project trackers, and supporting future fundraising efforts 
• Coordinating and collaborating with members of Overlap’s other business units ● Serving as the firm’s only full-time Bay Area presence 

What skills & experience you’ll bring to us: We are seeking someone with 3–5 years of experience in startup, frontier tech, and/or venture capital roles 

• Must have some base level of investment experience, combined with experience in a deeply technical domain (ie, Semiconductors, Biotech, Materials Science, Robotics, etc.). Ideally, holds a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM-related field 
• Experience with Notion or a similar no-code process management software application ● Charismatic “people person” interested in building working relationships with other VCs ● Has a basic initial understanding of the workings of the venture ecosystem ● Must be excited about, and motivated by, Overlap’s core mission (solving world-scale problems through the success of Frontier Tech startups) 
• Solutions-driven, hard worker with a resourceful “startup mindset” 
• No side hustles that would pose a conflict of interest; will be expected to agree to IP/Confidentiality protections 

The specifics: 

• Compensation: combination of salary, bonus, and profit share (& carry after first year) ● Location: While Overlap is a fully-remote Company, you must be located in the Bay Area
