VC Associate @ Mirae Asset Global Investments in New York City, NY

Mirae Asset Financial Group is Asia’s preeminent global financial group with more than $650B of AUM. Mirae Asset Global Investments (MAGI) is the asset management division with offices in 15 countries and manages more than $225B AUM across multiple public and private market strategies.

MAGI has a US-focused venture capital fund aimed at investments across sectors and stages operating out of New York. The team makes investments in category-defining business such as Space X, xAI, Cohere, FalconX, Runway, and d-Matrix. We are looking for a full-time associate to work directly with our investment professionals to source, evaluate and execute new investments. This role will be based in New York City.

Primary Responsibilities

• Participate in each stage of the investment process alongside internal colleagues.
• Research sector themes, identify and screen companies for potential investment.
• Evaluate companies and drive due diligence through industry research, market sizing, competitive benchmarking, customer and management references, and financial analysis.
• Coordinate and execute due diligence of investments interacting with management and external advisors.
• Build relationships with founders, counterparts at other firms, and other industry professionals by attending industry and networking events on behalf of the firm.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate has:

• 2-4 years of experience in a venture capital, investment banking, management consulting or corporate development role.
• Intellectual curiosity – driven and naturally inquisitive but humble at the same time.
• Highly analytical and organized – enjoys data (quantitative and qualitative) and can synthesize analysis and thoughts through strong financial modeling, writing and presentation skills.
• Industry knowledge– a generalist with an understanding of major technology trends– particularly in AI.
• Understanding of business models and the emerging companies at the forefront of those trends; empathetic to the risks and struggles that founders undertake when launching their companies.
• Self-starter – this person is expected to drive many parts of the process and will often operate independently; but can work collaboratively and can enjoy being part of a team.
