VC Associate @ LiveOak Ventures in Austin, TX

LiveOak Ventures is seeking an Associate to be a key member of our investment team. The role is at the forefront of our investing activities, constantly meeting with founders and startups to source investment opportunities. The ideal candidate will identify where the best entrepreneurs gather and have a pulse on exciting new startups. They will have the opportunity to learn about venture investing and the startup ecosystem. They will get exposure to our portfolio companies and have the opportunity to develop a perspective on what makes for a successful start-up.

Responsibilities

• Proactively source new investment opportunities
• Cultivate a network that can surface promising early-stage startups
• Build and maintain a short list of high potential founders & startups that merit further diligence/meetings by partners
• Execute on outbound sourcing efforts
• Support partners through the due diligence and deal process, including developing investment thesis, financial and analytical modeling, market analysis and customer feedback
• Work with a select number of portfolio companies post-investment

Qualifications

• Ability to build relationships with founders and world-class management teams
• Abundant “hustle” and passion for fast growing startups
• Self-starter who can work without supervision and take goal-oriented direction (i.e.- “run with this”)
• Be highly organized with the ability multitask and prioritize assignments in a demanding, fast-paced environment
• Intellectual curiosity, mental acuity, and an active listener
• Three plus years of post-undergraduate experience (MBA welcome but not required) with a technology company or in investment banking, corporate development, venture capital, growth equity/private equity, or management consulting.
