Investment Associate

Location: San Francisco Bay Area

Seniority Level: Analyst or Associate (2–6 years’ experience)

We are seeking a highly driven and intellectually curious Investment Analyst or Associate to join our team with a focus on technology investments across public markets, and selectively in private markets. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of technology, public equities, and emerging trends, contributing directly to our research, modeling, and investment decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed financial modeling and valuation analyses for public technology companies and select private investments
  • Monitor and analyze global financial markets, macroeconomic trends, and emerging technologies
  • Evaluate investment opportunities through in-depth research, market mapping, and competitive analysis
  • Prepare concise investment memos and presentations for internal discussion
  • Engage with management teams, industry experts, and other market participants to inform investment theses
  • Stay abreast of developments in AI, LLMs, and cutting-edge technology trends, leveraging tools such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Grok, and others
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture that values open feedback, responsiveness, and intellectual rigor

Experience & Background

  • 2–6 years of experience as an analyst or associate in:
  • Investment Banking
  • Hedge Funds
  • Trading
  • Equity Research
  • Private Equity (Associates preferred)
  • Experience in public markets (IB, hedge funds, trading) is highly valued
  • Exposure to technology-focused groups or funds
  • Equity Research or consulting experience in Private Equity Groups (PEG) from top consulting firms is a plus
  • Private market experience (VC or PE) is helpful but not required—we’re open to training strong candidates

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from a top 20 university (e.g., Stanford, Harvard, UPenn, etc.)
  • Major or minor in Computer Science strongly preferred

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques
  • Strong understanding of global financial markets and investment principles
  • Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) and AI tools

Interests & Soft Skills

  • Deep passion for technology, innovation, and market trends
  • Active consumer (and potentially creator) of tech-related content from platforms like Twitter, HackerNews, Acquired Podcast, etc.
  • Exceptionally responsive during business hours (aiming for <10-minute turnaround on emails and texts)
  • Open to receiving and incorporating direct feedback
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
