Role Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Investment Analyst or Junior Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in technology trends, emerging markets, and venture capital investing. This role requires proficiency in English, fluency in Spanish, and a self-starter attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify New Investment Opportunities: Identify new investment opportunities across the continent, with a specific focus on Central America, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
  • Market Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and potential investment opportunities within the technology sector and target geographies.
  • Investment Evaluation: Assist in the evaluation of potential investment opportunities by analyzing business models, financial statements, markets, growth prospects, exit opportunities, among other matters required to preliminarily confirm an investment opportunity’s potential.
  • Due Diligence: Participate in the due diligence process, including analyzing business plans, deep market research, including conducting thorough interviews with founders and industry experts, competitive analyses, financial modeling, among other matters that are critical to confidently ascertain before proceeding with an investment decision which would later be included in comprehensive and highly detailed investment memorandums
  • Portfolio Management: Support portfolio companies with strategic projects, financial analysis, commercial development, market insights, and other matters.
  • Reporting: Work with assigned portfolio companies to prepare quarterly investor reports for the investment fund’s quarterly and annual investor report.
  • Engage with Startup Ecosystem: Engage with the startup ecosystem by attending startup events, demo days, and networking with entrepreneurs and other venture capital professionals.
  • Develop Investment Thesis: Contribute to the development of the fund’s investment thesis and sector strategies through constant reading and occasional market deep dives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in venture capital, investment banking, management consulting, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in English and fluency in Spanish.
  • Demonstrated interest in technology trends and emerging markets.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and synthesize diverse datasets with varying degrees of structuring and availability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong project and process management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with high emotional intelligence (EQ).
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with the startup ecosystem in Latin America is a plus.
