Job Title: Venture Associate 

Location: Remote with potential hybrid work with our Mumbai team member Contract based; Full time 

Job Summary: 

We are seeking a Venture Associate, ideally located in India, to join our global team, focusing on sourcing, investing in and supporting early stage companies in the Alternative Proteins and Ingredients sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting both Big Idea Ventures’ the investment team and the accelerator team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum 1-3 years of work experience in VC, at a startup, analytics, or operational support, and ideally an MBA, relevant degree, or equivalent work experience. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Investments (approx 60-65% of duties): 

  • Source and evaluate potential investment opportunities in the Alternative Proteins and Ingredients sector 
  • Conduct market research and analysis to assess industry trends, competitive landscapes, and growth opportunities
  • Conduct due diligence on potential investments, including financial, legal, and operational aspects 
  • Manage the end-to-end diligence process for multiple companies coming through the pipeline simultaneously 
  • Support in the preparation of dealflow reports for Big Idea Ventures’ LPs. ● Interested in AI and how it can be used to improve office efficiency 
  • Operational support of investment deal flow process as needed. 

Accelerator and portfolio support:: 

(approximately 35–40% of duties) 

  • Portfolio and platform operations: Support across platform initiatives, from day-to-day portfolio support requests and internal and external data management. 
  • Special projects and partnerships: Contribute to special projects and new initiatives across the firm, working closely with external partners and organising events. ● Community engagement including maintenance of resource hub, communication channels, and related initiatives. 
  • Support admin and logistics of accelerator program: providing support as needed to the accelerator operations. 
  • Marketing: Support program related marketing activities, promoting the accelerator program and BIV’s initiatives. 

Qualifications: 

  • Degree in Business, Finance, Food Science, Biology, or a related field. ● Understanding of the Alternative Proteins and Ingredients sector, including market trends and key players 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Passion for working with startups and founders of early stage companies ● Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment, working with a global team (please note that due to the global nature of the firm, some meetings may be held after traditional working hours) 
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail 
  • Experience coordinating with vendors, partners, and speakers 
  • Proficiency in the Office Suite and Google Suite 
  • Professional fluency in English, with fluency in additional languages a plus
