The Research Associate reports to the Managing Director leading the Avon Venture Fund. The role will build the team’s research capabilities through:

Developing thesis areas, including identifying new market segments Performing deep quantitative and qualitative analysis on macro (e.g., market analysis, consumer trends) and micro topics (protocol design, token economics) Sourcing investment opportunities and supporting due diligence of investments Supporting portfolio holdings, including an active role in the broader Fidelity digital asset ecosystem Attending conferences and seminars to develop and refine learnings

The role is intended to progress with Avon Ventures and has a pathway to leadership positions.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • 2+ years of prior experience in the crypto industry
  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Passion for crypto, cryptoassets, blockchain technology, and Web3 infrastructure
  • Curiosity, proactivity, collaboration, adaptability, and comfort in a fast-paced environment
  • Analytically rigorous, robust quantitative skills, and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness to network, attend conferences, etc. to build expertise and source investments
  • Permission to work in the US is required

The Team

Avon Ventures is a venture capital fund affiliated with FMR LLC, the parent company of Fidelity Investments. Avon is an early-stage venture fund investing in the crypto and blockchain ecosystems. The Venture Associate will be a key member of the Avon Ventures investment team.

Avon Ventures is backed by Devonshire Investors, a private investment firm affiliated with FMR LLC. Headquartered in Boston, Devonshire manages investments on behalf of FMR and its shareholders in businesses outside of the financial services industry. The Avon team is based in Boston, MA, and is located in Fidelity’s offices. At Avon, we invest thematically in the foundations of the cryptoasset and blockchain ecosystems. Our portfolio companies include exchanges, prime brokers, market makers, decentralized finance platforms, data & analytics, security & compliance, and infrastructure as well as emerging use cases in the broader Web3 economy (gaming, music, etc.). We take a fundamentals-based, founder-focused investment lens supported by our deep industry expertise and network – including our footprint within Fidelity’s digital asset ecosystem.
