About the Role:

We are looking to bring on a founding analyst to join Wedbush Ventures’ Managing Director who founded Wedbush Ventures in 2020. This is an ideal role for someone who is intellectually curious, enjoys connecting people, and is a self starter who enjoys wearing many different hats.

What You’ll Do

As the first team member of Wedbush Ventures, you’ll have the unique opportunity to see all parts of the venture capital business and help build out the platform. We don’t see this as a 2 year stint, but instead intend for this person to be able to grow with our firm long term.

  • Diligence: You’ll perform qualitative and quantitative analysis for potential investments. This includes market research, customer diligence calls, metric evaluation, and team assessment. You’ll need to be comfortable leveraging connections and LinkedIn for primary diligence and bring an analytical perspective grounded in emotional intelligence. You’ll be compiling these insights and information into investment memos.
  • Platform Management: You’ll be responsible for keeping internal systems up to date, getting monthly updates from portfolio companies and compiling the documents and data for quarterly LP updates. You’ll help evolve our data capture infrastructure in the most founder and LP-friendly ways.
  • Sourcing: You will enjoy being out in the ecosystem, meeting founders and identifying emerging startups. You will review pitch decks and identify investment opportunities. You will also help perform primary research to identify investment areas based on our thesis and will source and reach out to promising startups in those areas.
  • Ecosystem Development & Portfolio Company Support: You will help create content (blog posts, social media, etc.) to provide insights into our thesis and learnings. You will organize events for our portfolio companies, co-investors and LPs. You will have a genuine interest in people and relationships and a keen eye for how to connect people to ensure we are effectively servicing our ecosystem.

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical skills, innate curiosity, and systems thinking: You must be able to learn quickly, synthesize complex concepts, and build mental frameworks and pattern recognition. You will also have a point of view from your analysis that you’re not afraid to defend.
  • Proactive and resourceful: We are a scrappy, entrepreneurial team. You need to be a self-starter who thinks a step ahead and can figure out solutions based on context. You find creative ways to access relevant information and accomplish goals in a fast-paced environment. You are also a team player who makes the team better.
  • Strong written and verbal communication: You can effectively understand an audience and how best to communicate with them in a clear and friendly manner.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail: You are an organizational wizard with strong attention to detail.
  • Passion and empathy: Startups, technology trends, and where the world is going is your passion. You have thoughtful perspectives that you enjoy sharing so we can learn from each other. You must also have a heavy dose of self-awareness and empathy.
  • Previous experience in VC, management consulting, or investment banking is a plus but not required. Previous work experience in a start-up is also a plus, but not required. This is a pre-MBA role with the ideal candidate having 1-5 years of experience.

We are based in Santa Monica, CA and are looking for candidates who are based in the Los Angeles area or are willing to relocate.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package. Salary Range $80,000 – $100,000. Compensation may vary based on experience, training, and education.
