New Rhein Healthcare Investors is a life science–focused private equity and venture capital firm investing in biotech, pharmaceutical, and medical device companies. The firm takes a strategic investor approach, applying rigorous diligence and operational expertise to drive value creation and prepare assets for exit.

They have a strong understanding of what would be attractive to strategic partners and work backwards to help their portfolio companies build their value proposition.

Role Description

The Analyst will play an integral role in the investment team, supporting all aspects of the deal lifecycle, from sourcing and screening opportunities to executing transactions and monitoring portfolio performance. The position offers exposure to a wide range of investment activities across New Rhein’s funds and portfolio companies, with direct interaction with senior partners and operating executives.

We are looking for a highly motivated team player who is passionate about investing and building a long-term career path within New Rhein. The Analyst brings 2-6 years of experience in fields such as life science consultancy, private equity, venture capital, banking or hedge funds and possesses the following skills:

Background

• Advanced degree in life sciences-related discipline is a plus but not required.
• Work experience in life sciences is a must

Technical skills

• Experience in executing diligence
• Strong analytical and financial modeling skills including an understanding of corporate finance concepts
• Comfort with evaluating scientific and clinical data is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel required

Communication skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex topics clearly and concisely.
• Structured and succinct presentation and communication
• Ability to communicate with all levels of stakeholders, both internal and external

Key Responsibilities

Deal Sourcing and Screening

• Identify, evaluate, and prioritize investment opportunities within the biopharma, medical device, and healthcare services sectors. Conduct preliminary assessments of company fit with New Rhein’s investment criteria and fund strategy.

Due Diligence and Financial Analysis

• Support comprehensive due diligence processes, including market sizing, competitive landscape assessments, IP review, clinical development pathways, regulatory analysis, and financial modeling.

Investment Execution

• Assist in preparing internal investment memoranda, valuation models, and presentation materials for the Investment Committee. Coordinate with advisors and consultants across technical, regulatory, and commercial workstreams.

Portfolio Company Support

• Collaborate with management teams of portfolio companies on strategic initiatives such as commercial assessments, business development, financial planning, and fundraising. Monitor company performance and prepare regular reporting for internal and LP stakeholders.

Market Research and Sector Insights

• Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, scientific advancements, and M&A activity across therapeutic areas. Contribute to thought leadership materials and New Rhein’s investment theses.
